Happy New Year! We hope you have a happy, healthy, book-filled 2017. We’re back at our desks and raring to go on an incredible twelve months of titles. You can see our January – June catalogue here or contact us to request a hard copy. Here are just a few highlights to whet your appetite…
We’ll have more on our January titles on publication day, but in the meantime feast your eyes on these GORGEOUS jackets!
Too many beautiful Little Gems and laugh-out-loud 8-12s in February to mention but a particular highlight has to be The Story of the Dancing Frog by the legendary Quentin Blake. Feast your eyes on these gorgeous illustrations.
The Pavee and the Buffer Girl by the late Siobhan Dowd is brought to life by incredible young artist Emma Shoard. Pavee has a special place in our hearts because one of its themes is the power of literacy.
Astrid Lindgren Prize winner Meg Rosoff returns to Barrington Stoke with Good Dog McTavish, a fantastic story of a rescue dog rescuing a family. While you wait for April, find Meg’s incredible Moose Baby here and read why it’s one of our Sales Director Jane’s absolute favourite books on the list.
My Name is Not Refugee by Kate Milner is an incredibly special book by an incredibly special lady. A mother explains to her child that it is no longer safe to stay at home, and they must pack their bags and say their goodbyes. All along the child reader is encouraged to reflect on how they would feel in the little boy’s shoes. See the artwork below and find Kate’s A Bag for Katie project on Twitter here to engage with this passionate campaigner for understanding and equality.
June is packed with incredible writing and incredible illustration, with books from Anthony McGowan, Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell and more. A new Tom Palmer series is always something to celebrate and we’re really excited about Defenders, which packs in ghosts, football and historical fact for seriously spooky chillers packed with facts and sporting action. The first book, Defenders: Killing Ground is out in June with instalments two and three in August and November.
We’ll have info on our July – November titles very soon. Happy reading!
