I co-founded Barrington Stoke over 21 years ago with my mother in law, Patience Thomson, combining our expertise of publishing and dyslexia. It’s been a rewarding journey, working with the very best authors and illustrators to give our readers the opportunity to enjoy the same quality of books as their peers. I still get a huge kick from the feedback like this, which comes from readers and carers alike: “I would be lost without your books for my daughter and son. Since discovering your books they have finally discovered the joys of reading” – Parent
Sales & Marketing Director
I’ve been working at Barrington Stoke since 1998 when I was pregnant with my first child who is now 20! We launched that May and I was tasked with introducing the first 6 titles to the book trade and press, and communicating our then rather unusual mission to the greater book community, at home and abroad. I feel very fortunate to work with such brilliant writers, and for a publisher with such expertise and heart.
Finance & Operations Director
Senior PR & Rights Manager
I started at Barrington Stoke as an intern in 2012 and never left. After a bit of time in various roles stuffing envelopes, running schedules and assisting the sales and marketing team, I now look after PR and generally act as cheerleader for all things Barrington Stoke. I also sell our stories into other languages. Working in children’s books has always been my dream job and I constantly have to pinch myself at the amazing authors and illustrators I get to work with at Barrington Stoke.
School and Direct Sales Manager
I hugely enjoy my role and love helping to promote and raise awareness of our books to schools and parents so that more and more young people can experience the joy of reading. Out of everything I do on a day to day basis the best bit is hearing all the amazing feedback we receive from customers – both new and old – and it is a pleasure to know that we continue to make a difference to struggling readers.
