I am visiting as a Parent / CarerTeacher / LibrarianBook-Trade Professional

Meet the Team

Lucy Juckes

Chair

I co-founded Barrington Stoke over 21 years ago with my mother in law, Patience Thomson, combining our expertise of publishing and dyslexia.  It’s been a rewarding journey, working with the very best authors and illustrators to give our readers the opportunity to enjoy the same quality of books as their peers.  I still get a huge kick from the feedback like this, which comes from readers and carers alike: I would be lost without your books for my daughter and son. Since discovering your books they have finally discovered the joys of reading” – Parent

Jane Walker

Sales & Marketing Director

I’ve been working at Barrington Stoke since 1998 when I was pregnant with my first child who is now 20! We launched that May and I was tasked with introducing the first 6 titles to the book trade and press, and communicating our then rather unusual mission to the greater book community, at home and abroad. I feel very fortunate to work with such brilliant writers, and for a publisher with such expertise and heart.

Anne Mather

Finance & Operations Director

I joined Barrington Stoke 15 years ago, on a part time freelance basis. At that time I worked for 4 different companies, but Barrington Stoke was by far my favourite, (and I love spreadsheets) so I never left! I now oversee our distributors, our office, and all things financial.

Ailsa Bathgate

Editorial Director

Julie-ann Murray

Kirstin Lamb

Senior PR & Rights Manager

I started at Barrington Stoke as an intern in 2012 and never left. After a bit of time in various roles stuffing envelopes, running schedules and assisting the sales and marketing team, I now look after PR and generally act as cheerleader for all things Barrington Stoke. I also sell our stories into other languages. Working in children’s books has always been my dream job and I constantly have to pinch myself at the amazing authors and illustrators I get to work with at Barrington Stoke.

Jane McCauley

School and Direct Sales Manager

I hugely enjoy my role and love helping to promote and raise awareness of our books to schools and parents so that more and more young people can experience the joy of reading.  Out of everything I do on a day to day basis the best bit is hearing all the amazing feedback we receive from  customers – both new and old – and it is a pleasure to know that we continue to make a difference to struggling readers.

Freya Barcroft

Marketing Manager

I moved from bookselling to Barrington Stoke in 2017 and haven’t looked back! My job is hugely varied and I work across everything from creating sales material, to checking data, to writing copy and tinkering with the website. It’s a dream come true to work in children’s books and, after a couple of degrees and a few stints behind the tills, I’m thrilled that I get to work with such a brilliant and unique company.

Victoria Walsh

Junior Editor

After an English degree and a brief stint in academic publishing, I joined Barrington Stoke in 2018. I love getting to see stories develop from first draft to final proof and am thrilled to be working on fantastic titles by brilliant authors, including many who I read as a child myself.

Laura Kincaid

Production Controller

I’ve been with Barrington Stoke since 2017 and handle all of our production needs, from costing our books and marketing materials all the way through to sending them off to print. Since I was able to read, I’ve never gone anywhere without a book, so it’s truly wonderful to work for a publisher that helps inspire that same love of reading in others while producing stunning books along the way.
